People are not the problem. Systems can be.
Beautiful Monsters is a peer-led system change movement helping people build beautiful futures.
Our manifesto sets out what we believe, what we challenge and how we turn lived and living experience into meaningful power and practical action.
At its heart is a shift in thinking: start with people’s lives and build support around them. People who use drugs, their families and communities must have real influence over the decisions that affect them.
Discover our core principles and our approach to building safer, kinder, more connected systems, from listening and peer-led research to community ownership and lasting change.

How do services measure up when it comes to listening to people, sharing power and delivering meaningful change?
We’re developing a league table of providers, examining their responses to a range of questions about what they deliver and how they meet commitments to the people and families they support.
We’re still gathering the evidence. Before publishing any rankings, we’ll explain our questions, assessment criteria and approach, including how we handle missing information.
Our aim is to recognise good practice, highlight gaps and help drive better services.
